Muscular Dystrophy Rides Again

For several years M.D.A. has utilized Quaker Hill Camp and Conference Center for their annual Summer Camp. M.D.A. summer camp serves southern Idaho and eastern Oregon.

Yesterday, thanks to Lowe's Home Improvement, campers were building picture frames, miniature pinball games and pine derby cars.

Today is the V.I.P. Carnival Day. You can bet there will be lots of face painting, cotton candy, confetti, a BBQ and lots of happy campers.

Thanks for choosing Quaker Hill!

Campers filling the
ticks (mattresses) with hay (circa 1940).

In 1931, when Quaker Hill was founded, one of it's reason for existence was to provide "a family vacation with a purpose". Eighty years later we still feel that same way.

This summer we elected to bring back Family Camp. This will be an exciting time to serve our community of Quakers and the community at large by providing an affordable vacation for the entire family.

Mark your calendar and put in for your vacation time. The dates are June 21-25, 2011. The cost - $199.00 per family. That's it!

If you haven't been to Quaker Hill for a while here's your chance to relax with your family and have fun during your 3 night 4 day summer get away.

This is not an every year occurrence or price but simply a way for us to extend an invitation to our constituents to say thank you for supporting this amazing ministry for the past 80 years.

We hope to see you in June!

P.S. Oh and we've replaced the hay mattresses!

Annual Work Weekend

Next Up... Work Weekend!

This weekend we will be hosting our Annual Memorial Day Work Weekend. This is a time for campers to earn stamps for camp, families to get an opportunity to get out of the hustle and bustle of city life and to just simply work alongside other Friends Of Quaker Hill.

Traditionally, we have weeded flower beds, planted flowers, raked pine needles, picked up pine cones, hung doors, painted decks and the like. This is a fun time of fellowship as we get Quaker Hill ready for another amazing summer of ministry.

Wow To The V.O.W.'s

A big hats off to the Volunteers On Wheels (V.O.W.)!

For nearly 8 days and counting Quaker Hill has been given the privileged of hosting this amazing group of seniors. They have been able to tackle a variety of projects around camp through the rain, sun and snow!

What a great group of people with a heart to match their abilities!

I've appreciated not only their work but their stories, smiles and tears shared. We will not forget your time spent at Quaker Hill.

Quaker Hill has been blessed. Thank you VOW's!

His servant and yours,

Jon Walker
Executive Director

Next Up...Senior High Camp!

The Senior High campers and staff left this morning on their way to Quaker Hill. After a stop over in Garden Valley for lunch, worship dinner and a play at Starlight Mountain Theatre they will rest their weary heads on pillows tonight at camp!

KID'S campers on their way down the hill.

At 3:30pm the bus left Quaker Hill. The bus should be right on schedule to arrive at the Eagle Home Depot parking lot at 5:30pm. Thank you parents for sending your kids to Quaker Hill this year!

As we review how things went this year tell us what you thought of the transportation component of Kid's Camp 2010!

Blessings,
The Quaker Hill Staff
